Exploring creativity through Designers Runway 2 [Photos]

It was on 13th March 2015, 23 graduating students of IEC College of Art and Fashion unveiled their creativity through an exclusive show named as Designers Runway 2 at Hotel Hyatt Regency, Boudha. Though being a graduation show, the attires presented on the runway were not less than any professional designer’s creation. As per Ms. Shailaja Adhikary, the Managing Director of IEC group, this show was important for the students to make a mark in the fashion industry and to showcase what they have learned in three years span of time in Bachelor studies in fashion designing.

iec designers walk fashion show The show saw 12 number of sequences through which the graduating students showcased their immense talent and creativity in exploring innovation in fashion and style. The show took off with the theme named the coral bliss which had creations by Priti Shrestha and Pratichhya Bakhati who explored their talent in Mermaid and A line silhouettes. Likewise designer duo Riplobon Rai & Meena Prajapati work was seen in fusion theme which showcased the attires being inspired by Rai and Newar culture.

Other designs the evening witnessed were by Shreesha Sapkota & Ashmita Neupane who brought another mermaid silhouettes on the runway which were presented majorly on fabrics like Apple Silk, Raw silk, Georgette & chiffon. With gorgeous models flaunting dresses on the runway, the show had collection by designer duo Kamana Shrestha & Meena Maharjan which had black and white colored dresses representing devils and angels on the runway.

iec designers walk fashion show Designer duo Khusbu Gauchan & Sabita Sodemba showcased the indo western style that was majorly been inspired by peacock. The runway felt the punk fashion with designer duo Jony Shrestha and Ramita Maharjan. The use of synthetic leather, golden colored zipper and LED lights were the highlights of this collection.

Designer duo Rikesh Kasti & Chandra Rajbanshi presented the collection inspired by Mithila art which had dresses mostly on A line, straight and fitting dresses. Black and White came alive on the runway through creation by designer duo Puja Gurung & Reshma Maharjan whose collection was inspired the Chess. The only designer to showcase his solo collection was Niraj Prajapati whose creativity seemed to be futuristic under the theme named Robobikes which had multi wear transformer clothes as the primary content of his collection. Designer duo Nirajana Rana Magar & Ishwar Khatri presented unique combination of gothic culture and Japanese Lolita fashion named as Gothlita.

The collection of Rashmi Tandukar & Sajan Maharjan was dedicated to the Confident, Independent & Ambitious persona of 21st century women. The collection had the garments in A-line Silhouette explored in raw silk with the use yellow, green, blue & orange as the major colors. The final round was by designer duo Kalpana Gurung & Laxmi Gurung whose effort was been inspired by urban lights reflecting the self determination, confidence, independent nature of women of urban area. The event was managed by At House of Fashion and was choreographed by Bipen Mickey Gurung.
