KIMFF kicks off with Sunakali

The 12th edition of Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival (KIMFF) kicked off on Thursday with the screening of documentary ‘Sunakali’ of journalist Bhojraj Bhat.

Director Bhat said he is encouraged by the response during the world premiere of the documentary based on the love of football among girls of Mugu district in western Nepal.

During the film festival that will continue till Monday, Mangsir 29, some 80 films of 20 countries will be screened.

KIMFF 2014 jury members include British photographer Henry Iddon, US mountaineer and filmmaker David Breashears (IMAX Everest) and Italian filmmaker Paola Nessi.

The first winner will receive USD 1500, second will receive USD 1000, and third will get USD 500. Likewise, under the category Nepal Panorama, best fiction film will be awarded with Rs 50,000 and best documentary with Rs 50,000.
