Ranveer Singh’s Simmba reminds you Ajay Devgn’s Singham

Simmba trailer reminds Rohit Shetty’s own film Singham starring Ajay Devgn. The fact that the trailer of the Simmba starts off with visuals of Singham, the narration of Ajay Devgn and also his blockbuster cameo towards the end.

The trailer of Ranveer Singh’s ‘Simmba’ released on YouTube to a superb response from fans. Starring Ranveer Singh, Sara Ali Khan and Sonu Sood in the lead roles Simba is directed by Rohit Shetty. Simmba is a remake of 2015 Telugu film ‘Temper’.

But, there many who thought that the trailer reminded them of Rohit’s own film Singham starring Ajay Devgn. The fact that the trailer of the Simmba starts off with visuals of Singham, the narration of Ajay Devgn and also his blockbuster cameo towards the end, added fuel to the comparisons and similarities.

The reason Simmba reminded you of Singham and Ajay Devgn had such a strong presence in the trailer itself because this is the start of Rohit Shetty Cinematic Universe or Singham Verse or whatever you wanna call it. In Hollywood, we’ve seen many shared universes but this will be a first in Hindi films. Of course, there was Baby and Naam Shabana but that was different.

However, the major difference between the two towering personalities is that Singham is an honest and upright cop whereas; Simmba is a corrupt police officer.

Rohit Shetty also revealed an interesting reason why they zeroed in on Simmba title. He revealed at the trailer launch that Singham means Lion and a lion’s cub is Simba (The Lion King reference) hence, they named the movie Simmba.

Simmba is an orphan from Shivgadh from where our beloved Singham was born and raised. Contrary to the philosophies of Singham, Simmba believes that a Corrupt Officer’s life is an ideal life which inspires him to become one. While Simmba enjoys all the perks of being an immoral and unethical Police Officer, a twist in the tale transforms him and forces him to choose the righteous path. Simmba is slated to release on December 28, 2018.
