Valentine’s Day Dressing: How to Look Special and Romantic?

Rojin Shakya | The romance can be felt in the air, as the day of celebrating love, 14th February is nearing. The day has its own importance and makes people overwhelmed who believe in love and take care of their loved ones. Since the day is also about making you look special and romantic, as some way dressing is to express and impress.

Here we have some of the creations imagined by the upcoming designers doing Bachelors in Fashion Designing at Namuna College of Fashion Technology. The student designers are the 12th batch students pursuing their studies at fifth semester in the college.

Valentine’s Day is a day that defines romance, the day for lovers. So the designer Tashi Dolma has created the apparel keeping in mind the romantic feel of the day. She suggests Peach red as it is subtle and fresh color which is perfect for Valentine’s Day. She recommends Silk, as it is a breathable fabric and is very comfortable to wear and the look is luxurious too.

Tashi goes for floor length, wide legged jumpsuit feeling that it is the perfect outfit for the day. According to her the solid color makes you look taller, the length of the outfit also makes your legs look longer. The peach red color complements both the dark and fair complexion. Overall this look can be flaunted by young women and being stylish in this outfit is effortless. The embroideries work like accessories so you can go out without a single accessory in sight and still look ravishing. Less is more is the mantra when flaunting this design. Stay lovely and stylish.

For this very special occasion fashion designer Phungoti Nembang suggests an outfit that would complement day to night. Being so obsessed by the minimalism rule the designer wants the attire to be kept something casual and minimal with the designs yet being bold and chic to stand out in the crowd. It would be a jump suit that has a cutaway design at the waist just to give the illusion of curvy silhouette and the side slit from the area just above the knee reflecting bold and sexy look.

The dress would be made up of stretchable jersey fabric. For this particular day most of the people love clean, feminine, subtle and romantic attire in red but here the designer wants something different than the color red and it is green , the color for this year. The jumpsuit would have the halter top neckline design at the front and deep back open design allowing the right amount of skin to peek through. To blend with the bold and edgy look of the garment sleek middle hair partition style would be done to get more of subtle and romantic look.

Since the attire itself stands out, make-up is suggested to be very minimal with just the application of eyeliner and softer eye shadows. Regarding the footwear, black strap stilettos would be more complementing. As still the temperature is not so much warm one can go handy with a semi formal jacket in light greyish tone and can opt the layering style.

According to designer Rajendra Rai, taking consideration to the climatic situation one should dress to look good as well as warm. Though the colour of love is red, Valentine’s Day should not only subjected to red. One can have options on shades of green like jade green, Kelly green or shades of pink like dusty pink or peony pink.

Here the dress suggested for this day of love is short sleeve or sleeveless Midi dress. Event Stretchy silk made high low or asymmetric slip dress could be an option. But a long sleeved woollen coat is preferable to keep you warm and your look stylish. Ankle strapped heeled footwear would be perfect combination for this sort of dress. Blocked heel Pencil heel shoes could be kept in option. Minimal make-up would be complementing. Simple elegant neck piece or a choker can complete your look to make you simply stylish and lovable.
